The Wisdom Literature in the Bible reflects a genre of writing which was common in the ancient world. The elite were given special training so they would have wisdom and govern wisely. Wisdom in the Bible shows a shift from this emphasis on the ruling class and exhibits are democratizing spirit. The Lord of all shows no partiality … because he himself made the great as well as the small, and he provides for all alike. Everyone should learn wisdom, should learn how to make good decisions. In our celebrity culture the elite of entertainment or sports often opine about things outside of their area of competence. Wisdom requires that we learn how to discern what God is saying to us and not some quarterback.
