It is surprising that the curiosity of the pharisees about “when the Kingdom of God would come” continues unabated today despite Jesus’ teaching that such speculation was not helpful. Well, maybe not that surprising since everyone would like to know what’s going to happen in the future. I would like to know the lottery numbers that are going to hit tomorrow! But there is one thing I can predict with confidence about the future. One day I will die. No one gets out of this life alive! Since we are all “short timers” in this life it pays to live the reality that there is a fuller and richer life to come. By focusing on God’s future plan for us we live full of faith.
