Some noisy children playing outside a man’s house were disturbing his nap. To shut them up he yelled out the window, “You’d better hurry. There’s a dragon by the river.” The children excitedly ran off and the man started to doze. Soon a new hubbub woke him. The whole town was running toward the river. He asked a passer-by what was going on. “Haven’t you heard? There’s a dragon by the river.” So the man got up and starting running toward the river. He thought to himself, “Well, maybe it is true…” We are prone to believe the fantastic, the unusual but that can keep us from living in reality. The Book of Revelation and Jesus talk about the future in a present tense way.
