The authorities got nervous when Malcolm X announced that he was going to work to end racism, oppression, injustice “by any means necessary.” The matter was so serious in the view of Malcolm X that it required intervention. I suspect that Jesus was saying something along the same lines in the parable of the unjust steward. “The children of this world are more prudent in dealing with their own generation than the children of light.” Our Lord wants us to understand that the gospel demands that we must sometimes act in a dramatic way. This time of national discord and division requires that, we “children of light” live out the values of Jesus by any means necessary and not follow political parties or popular opinion.
