The Book of Malachi responds to those who would ask of God, “What have you done for me lately?” How come if God is taking care of us our nation has been destroyed, my income has not risen, and plain old sickness and death stalk me? Malachi (the word simply means “the prophet” so the prophecy is basically anonymous) answers with a one-two punch. First, the prophet says, you have to understand that you can’t pull out your relationship with God only when you want something. God must become the primary part of your everyday existence. Second, to understand the ways of God you need to broaden your perspective. Don’t see only this thing but everything in the light of God’s plan for you.
