“Much will be required of the person entrusted with much, and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more.” These words of Jesus have always challenged me since I feel I have been “entrusted with much” — good education, blessed vocation, excellent health, etc. But I remember a Peanuts strip where Lucy was complaining about everything, noticing all she was lacking when Linus looked up at her and said, “Well, you have a little brother who loves you.” In the last panel Lucy is crying on his shoulder. The cartoon makes me realize “the more” that I have been entrusted with — a little brother and a whole slew of other family and friends who love me. What matters is responding to that love.
