Jesus went up to the mountain to pray ,and he spent the night in prayer to God. Jesus had a big decision to make. Who were going to be on his team? No doubt he did a careful analysis and due diligence in searching out their qualifications. But before he made the decision he needed to pray. He prayed in order to discern what God wanted. That is the model for our own decisions as well. Yes, we must consider carefully and weigh the pros and cons before we decide. But then we should pray, asking God to show us what God wants — which can at times be different from what we want! The promise is: doing God’s will leads ultimately to true happiness.
