You are fellow citizens with the holy ones and members of the household of God, built upon the foundation of the Apostles. We confess in our creeds that ours is an “apostolic” faith. That does not mean that the apostles wrote down everything that we believe as Christians and we merely hand it on from generation to generation like a rock. Since Jesus wrote nothing down himself, we are dependent on the witness of the apostles for the faith to exist at all. Similarly, when we witness to the love God has for us, we share apostolic faith. Our faith is apostolic because, like the apostles, we have come to know Jesus and are willing to pass on our experience of that encounter to others.
