How to deal with sinners is a perennial issue. Jesus had to confront the issue when the sinful woman anointed him at the home of Simon the Pharisee. The saints for today, Cornelius and Cyprian, developed a system of reconciling those who sinned by apostacy during persecution when some wanted such sinners to remain excluded. Pope Francis contradicts those bishops who want to excommunicate politicians they consider sinners by reminding us that the Eucharist is not a reward for the good but medicine for sinners. As Jesus reminds us forgiveness is all about love. I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven; hence, she has shown great love. Notice the love does not earn forgiveness; rather, because she is forgiven she can love.
