Strive eagerly for the greatest spiritual gifts. St. Paul is convinced that we all possess gifts that we can contribute to becoming the Body of Christ. There is no such thing as a passive member of the Church. Everyone must identify how God has gifted them. Each of us has something to contribute — maybe not seemingly big things but necessary things like a listening ear, a comforting shoulder, a helping hand. Sometimes it helps to ask others to assist you in identifying your gifts since things we take for granted can be important to others. Sometimes we should call forth the gifts of others who are too shy to put themselves forward. The promise of the Apostle is that if each one does their part in helping us to become Church then we together will fulfill the mission we have in the world of bringing good news to hearts that are weary and heavy burdened.
