“To what shall I compare the people of this generation? What are they like?” If they criticized Jesus you can be sure that they will criticize you! The problem comes, of course, when we judge one another from our point of view and not see others as they are. When they challenge oru way of thinking or acting we take it as a threat. Entering into the experience of another is the way to build understanding. This is important for creating a human community. It is critical for us as followers of Jesus to see things as he does. The way of Christ demands that we get over our grasping tendency (original sin??) and learn to empty ourselves in love. In the tradition this is called conversion, a change of mind and heart. Being a Christian is not something add to our lives like a job or a hobby but a complete re-orientation of what we think is valuable and how we act toward the people who are woven into our lives.
