“Naked I came forth from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I go back again. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD!” The Book of Job deals with the perennial problem of innocent suffering. How quickly we say “the Lord is blessing me” when we win the lottery or get a clean bill of health or when the family gets together. When troubles come we all to easily imagine that God has abandoned us. As we read in the book, Job comes up with a different answer and seeks to find the presence of God even when things are going kaflooey. God is the God of the winter and the spring, the sunshine and the rain.
