From now until Advent the daily gospel reflection will be taken from St. Luke. He seems to have used St. Mark’s gospel as the framework for telling the story of Jesus but chooses to stress or emphasize particular parts of the story. For example, in Luke’s gospel geography plays a major role. Everything leads to Jerusalem in the third gospel and then radiates out from Jerusalem in the second volume he wrote, the Acts of the Apostles. For Luke, geography can be sacred, certain places bring the presence of God in a particular way. In our own lives we have a “sacred geography” as well — some place or space that puts us in the divine presence. Let’s go to that place today and glorify God.
