The Bible suggests that it is really not that big a deal to believe in God. After all, the devil believes in God. When Jesus did an exorcism, the “demons also came out from many, shouting, ‘You are the Son of God.'” What is a big deal is bringing healing, bringing wholeness into a hurting world. Healing is also needed in the Church. From the very beginning there have been divisions that needed healing. St. Paul reports separate camps in Corinth. “Someone says, ‘I belong to Paul,’ and another, ‘I belong to Apollos.'” Nowadays you also find separate camps — the liberals versus the conservatives. St. Paul reminds us that we need to focus not so much on ourselves but what God is doing in us.
